If you’re looking for a few more things to put on your list to Santa…

I’m not trying to make anyone feel guilty about Christmas, I just thought it was a cool idea I heard about and decided to try it myself.

If you’re pondering what you should ask Santa for(make sure you’ve been good, though)… I decided to do something a bit different this year.  I think we can all agree we’re pretty fortunate to live the lives we live… So I decided to ask for a few small things (books, a traveller tea mug, etc.), but I’m asking that the majority of the money that would go towards my Christmas presents be donated to a charity.  So if you’d like, think about a few things you might need but if you feel you can do away with that cool PS3 game to feed a family, then go for it!

Re: Follow me over here

Marc just recently posted that he and Mike would no longer post on the same blog.  His argument makes sense - it’s two people posting different things and not necesarrily engaging in a conversation on the blog.  However, their idea to go their separate ways gave me an idea: send everyone the same way.  The announcement made me realize that now, I have to go to two different blogs to see what they post.  I want to read both these blogs, and Estebanwaseaten gave me the opportunity to do that.  In essence, that is my idea.  We should consolidate our blogs.  I’m mostly interested in my friend’s blogs and postings, so why not have them all appear chronologically, as they are posted, on one page?  I think it has potential to foster a community, encourage discussion, keep in touch, and share stuff that we find online and that goes on in our lives, whether it’s a cool quote, a funny picture, an inside joke, or that the heat in your house is broken. So, here is what I suggest to you, Marc and Mike: keep your blog, and open it to your friends.  Sure, some will be more frequent posters, others more frequent readers.  But it will give us a platform to share our thoughts, ideas, and respond to eachother’s posts.  It could be a cool idea; but if you want to be in the spotlight, we’ll understand :P.  Or at least, it would support people who are starting their own blogs.  Personally, I find it a bit unmotivating to start a blog: no audience, no topic, and no habit to post somewhat frequently.  Keeping estebanwaseaten and opening it to whomever provides a blog that is constantly buzzing with new information, yet does not put pressure on one writer to constantly maintain it.   I feel this could allow a would be blogger to experiment with blogging, clear the uncertainties that surround it, test its audience, and essentialy provide a babystep into the big boys league.  As I write this, though, I’m begining to realize that this is exactly how you guys have used it (haha).  Either way, keep up the great posts.

Fraser found this photo on his computer last night, from a video chat we did this summer.  I’m pretty sure this is when Marc and Fraser met online.  I think the story after this involves them talking on line together, then deciding to meet at a train station and drive to another country.  It kind of reminds me of this…
